Back Story Of Burtree Country House

When I bought Burtree in the early 90’s I was captivated by its serene beauty and peaceful ambience.

The house and farm buildings were impeccably laid out, making it a perfect spot to establish my feed mill business which is now known as Croft Feeds.

During lockdown with my children being restless, with the long days, they decided to colour on my William Morris wallpaper, I seized that moment, moved into the cottage and maximised the Country Houses natural potential by transforming it into a magical retreat where guests could come enjoy its hypnotic serene and luxurious Georgian glory and the beautiful landscaped gardens.

The enchanting remains of an old chapel, set within the garden grounds, has now been transformed into a lovely rustic spot with an alcohol licence, fondly known as the folly bar, where guests can enjoy breakfast, evening meals and a tipple or two.

Everything was designed by myself and lovingly hand crafted to be quirky and in keeping with the originality of Burtree by a local carpenter from Kilburn.

Today Burtree Country House is a unique and luxurious haven for guests to experience the Georgian glory of our beautiful house or be at one with nature amongst the quirky secluded retreats.

Burtree Country House Rooms

Its Time To Choose Your Accommodation

At Burtree Country House expect to experience a secluded romantic luxury stay in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire with magnificent views all around.

Our idyllic country house consists of four charming rooms, three deluxe ensuite doubles and our magnificent white horse suite, with its large balcony with seating area, BBQ, chimenea and undercover hot tub.

Or choose our retreats and be at one with nature in our hideaway treehouse or our enclosed secluded tipis pocahontas and geronimo, all with private balconies, BBQ’s, dining areas and seating, fire pits and hot tubs.

Our Quaint Rustic Folly Bar

Built around the ruins of a chapel wall in our extensive garden grounds, this authentic unique castle-like building, fully enclosed by large glass panels, is what is fondly known as Burtee Folly Bar. Featuring a large wood-burning stove, authentic bar, and a traditional dining area, with a large outside patio and bespoke seating.

Here you can relax around the open fire on our antique rocking chairs and enjoy a spirit or fine wine or anything from our extensive drinks menu while experiencing the folly’s peaceful ambience. Or, if the weather’s good, submerge yourself in nature on the bespoke-made seats on our extensive outside patio.

Breakfast and evening meals are served in the folly, and we also like to indulge in a sizzling BBQ or hog roast from time to time. It’s a truly memorable dining experience here.
